Glee airs on Fox
Lea Michele has signed with Harmony Books, of Random House Inc., to write a “part memoir, part how-to and part style-guide” book, according to The New York Times.
Set to be released in spring 2014, Michele’s book, Brunette Ambition, will chronicle her life from being a Bronx baby, Broadway belter and Glee breakout star, giving readers a “behind-the-scenes perspective.”
In a statement, Michele said she hopes to give to readers what she did not have growing up.
“There wasn’t a guidebook when I was growing up, that detailed everything I would need to do, and know, to get where I am today,” she said. “But I believe I can write one of sorts: not a how-to-make-it-in-show-business book, but a guide to harnessing tenacity, passion, enthusiasm, and hard work to make your dreams come true.”
Much like her on-screen character, Michele’s ego does not need any boosting. And that’s what this book is. According to USA TODAY, she will offer career insights, fitness tips and never before seen photos. Right. Because the first person I think of when I need fitness tips is definitely Lea Michele. Not to mention the fact that she is only 26-years-old! Why would anyone have the right to even do a partial memoir at such a young age?!
My advice? Please wait to publish the book. Reflecting on your past and offering advice will be taken much more seriously if your age is greater than the amount of pages in the book.
Michele, I don’t deny that you are incredibly talented, but you cannot ride on Glee‘s success forever. Forget the book. Go back to Broadway in your spare time.
